Who We Are
ActiveU started with a simple observation: the most competitive environments in the country — college campuses — somehow produce the most sedentary environments. We want to be part of changing that for our generation, building healthier, more active college campuses, starting with our own.
We've been roommates since freshman year, and teammates on the cross country team the whole time. The idea for ActiveU actually started in a public health class of mine — freshman year, I needed a final project that solved a real public health problem. We kept coming back to the same thing: most of a college schedule is spent sitting, in class, in the library, wherever. And for a lot of people, freshman year is the first time they're living without the routines that used to keep them moving without thinking about it. We noticed that gap because we hadn't experienced it ourselves — as student-athletes, physical activity, competition, and the bonds that come with both were still built into our everyday. That's where ActiveU came from.
